The Ngaio area offers many opportunities for recreation; in particular it offers a number of superb walking tracks.  Many of these follow the ridge lines above the area, and others explore remnants of native bush, streams and gorges.  Several of the walkways in the area link into the Northern Walkway.

We have produced a Map showing the main walkways in the greater Ngaio area.

Bells Track sign You can find out more about these and other walkways from the City Council website.  Walkway brochures are available from the Visitor Information Centre in Civic Square, by calling 499 4444 or you can email your request to info@wcc.govt.nz.

The Ngaio Progressive Association has produced a brochure on the Korimako Walkway.  This is available at the Cummings Park Libary (we have a problem with the electronic version, sorry).
